There are no written laws saying that you must leave tips when staying in Marbella, but it is a good habit to have, especially if you have enjoyed the service provided.

Without a doubt the staff from the restaurants, bars or any other establishments will be extremely grateful for any tips that you leave.

Tips are a cultural tradition both in Marbella as in the rest of Spain.

To leave a tip is a way of expressing your thankfulness for the excellent service provided in anywhere we visit.

Sometimes, however, leaving a tip can be a real dilemma for tourists, what should I do?

It?s worth remembering that today tips are given almost exclusively in the catering and restaurant trades, while in other trades they seem to have disappeared or been reduced to cents.

Many just leave the short change returned from the payment of a bill, but if you want to leave a tip according to tradition, in a restaurant for example, then you need to leave between 5 and 10% of the value of the bill.

If this custom is becoming less popular in Marbella and the rest of Spain, there are foreign countries where leaving a tip is almost compulsory but then in other countries in could be considered offensive?you must check before you go on your travels!

In México you should leave tips in restaurants and hotels and even give one to the person who helps you at the petrol pump.
On the other hand, in Japan or Indonesia it is considered to be a sign of bad manners if you leave a tip.

Each country has its own view towards tips, but normally the final decision is up to you. Wherever you go, remember that a tip is a gesture to show your appreciation for the good service received, it is not charity, make sure it is given with a smile!
