Marbella calls two major marinas its own, one Puerto Banus, is the luxurious host for the yachts and sport boats of multi millionaires. In the other one, the small Marina of Marbella, it is less flashy but has excelent installations for watersports.
The Marina of Marbella has the coordinates 36 30' 22" North and 5 53' 37" West. The port has the capacity to host 337 boats and yachts, a small shipyard and a gasoline service. The depth at the port entrance is 3,5 metres and the berth it is 2 metres, which means that the marina can host only small boats with a max. length of 20 metres. The marina is the property of the company Empresa Pública Puertos de Andalucía (EPPA).
On the other side of Marbella is the Puerto Banus situated. It can host 915 boats from 8-50 metres length. The depth of the water varies from 3-6 metres on the berths and is 7,5 metres on it's 80 metres wide port entrance.
All berths in Puerto banus are provided with water and electricity (220W/380W) as well as television. On berths with more than 15 m also a telephone is available. The gasoline service is open 24h. In the shipyard area of Puerto Banus an elevator for 50 tons is installed and a mobile cran with 6 tons capacity. In the workshops of the shipyard area all sorts of artisans are to be found: painters, electrician, carpenter and upholstery. There is also a shop with boat articles and a reparation service.
This is a good place to dock in the harbour if you are to go yacht sailing.
