Getting to Marbella by car is simple, whether you are coming from Malaga or Cadiz, the road you will need to take note of is the the Mediterranean Highway (Autovía del Mediterraneo), formerly known as the N-340.

Marbella is well connected with Malaga and with Algeciras or, if you are coming from Cadiz.

The A-7 Mediterranean motorway (Autovia del Mediterraneo) is the new name that has been given to the old national road N-340, runs parallel to the coast and links Marbella with all the other towns across the Costa del Sol and Málaga Airport.

From Malaga, just follow the signs for Algeciras - Marbella, and when you reach Fuengirola you can opt for the toll motorway AP-7 or continue in the A-7. During winter there are no problems normally in terms of traffic and you can save yourself the toll, but in summer the AP-7 is much faster, because of the traffic. The toll is a bit more expensive in summer, normally around five euros.

These two roads merge at the entrance of Marbella, at the 'La Cañada' commercial centre.

If you are coming from Cadiz or Algeciras, you can travel down the A-7, or by the AP-7, this time following the signs for Malaga.

If you choose the AP-7, you should exit at San Pedro de Alcantara to merge onto the A-7, and into Puerto Banus and then Marbella centre.

There is also a third road to get to Marbella, but is not recommended. This is the A-355, a mountain road with many curves connecting towns like Ojen and Coin to Marbella.
